There are so many different styles of wedding cake, some times it's hard to know where to start. Here at Fairy Dust Cake Studio we work with you to bring your dream wedding cake to life. Once we know what your basic style requirements are, we research and scrap-book inspiration before the consultation and then, with the aid of sketches, computer illustrations and Goggle images, we plan your cake. Even if you haven't got an idea of what you want, with almost 10 years in the wedding cake industry we are happy to help guide and inspire you to create the cake you may some times of never even knew you wanted.

Fondant Finish

A luxurious, elegant and classic finish. The fresh baked and filled sponges are first sealed in a decadent chocolate ganache, a blend of double cream and chocolate, before being covered in fondant and further detail and decorations added. It is incredible versatile and so many textures can be applied from ruffles, quilting and edible glitter, to hand painted elements or a satin sheen. It can be coloured to suit any colour theme and can be dressed with fresh, silk or sugar flowers.

Frosted/Rustic Finish

We don’t use buttercream here at Fairy Dust Cake Studio, we use a vegetable based American style frosting. It’s not nearly as sweet as buttercream, it’s a lot whiter and holds up a lot better in warmer temperatures. It can have various finishes from smooth to horizontal banding, and can be piped to create ruffles, swirls and fancy borders. It can be dressed with fresh seasonal fruits and berries, fresh flowers to match the bouquet or silk flowers.

Semi-naked Finish

A modern alternative to a fully iced cake, the semi naked finish has grown in popularity over the past few years. The finish is created by first covering the sponges with frosting and then scraping it off again to reveal the fresh baked sponges underneath. Dressed with seasonal fruits and berries, it’s a fresh and light choice for summer weddings. Adding a wooden topper and dressing with fresh flowers to match the bouquet and buttonholes is also a popular choice to style this cake.
